I had been working grooming in a busy grooming shop in Anchorage for about 15 years when my husband Jim got transferred to Soldotna in 1980. It was a great town to raise our four children in.
April of 1980, I decided to open my own grooming shop. We started by adding a small grooming room to our mobile home and then operated out of our house for about two years. We quickly outgrew that space and moved into the Red Diamond Center in 1983 up until December 2015. We are currently in our new shop at 48798 Funny River Road (one block up from Spenard Builders on the left). The building used to house Tail Waggers grooming. We were lucky to be looking when the owner decided to move out and into her home to groom. It is a LOT bigger!! We are very excited..come and see it!
All of our children have at one time, worked in the shop, either bathing or cleaning, or in the case of the two girls, grooming.
Lisa, our oldest daughter, moved to Homer in 2006 and opened her own grooming shop called Lisa Ann's Grooming and is doing very well there.
Our youngest daughter Stephani has been grooming at Tarma Grooming for 21 years and I still work there several days a week.
When Jim retired after 22 years with Safeway as the Produce Manager, we decided to build a new Boarding Kennel. Jim is the Kennel Manager and is home most of the time (there IS fishing you know!)
AND NOW! A new chapter in our lives.
